When I first heard about Homearama, I envisioned something like a huge trade show in a convention center, displaying wares by various home improvement, interior design, builders and the like. As time drew closer, I realized I would be walking through houses, but I still didn't "get it" until we went through this weekend. For those of you, like me, who are clueless about it, Homearama is a lot like walking through 18 HGTV episodes highlighting building design features and interior design ideas. 18 houses over 2 sites (10 at Rock Springs and 8 at Locust Grove); it can be pretty...

Last weekend I took my two little boys to Derby Dinner Playhouse to see the current Children’s Musical Theatre production of “A Year with Frog and Toad” the Musical. We have been to many of the children’s theatre shows and I must say, this one was without a doubt one of the best! I wasn’t at all sure what to expect from this show, not having known much of the storyline other than the few children’s books I had read. But, I was so pleased with the messages and the performances that by the time we left, I wanted to see...

The PNC Bank Broadway Series continues to amaze me with each and every show it brings to town! Last night my dad and I went to see the newest show featured, Million Dollar Quartet! This is a new musical inspired by the famed recording session that happened on December 4, 1956 at Sun Records in Memphis. This event brought together music legends Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis and Carl Perkins for the first and only time. This show lets us peak into what happened on that legendary night in the recording studio as these four young musicians jammed to...

I had the pleasure of attending both the Louisville Ballet’s production of the Brown-Foreman Nutcracker this past weekend, as well as the Sugar Plum Fairy Party they held beforehand!  There were three generations present, my 6 year old, my mom and myself; and all of us loved the experience equally. Our afternoon began at 11:30 in the East Room of the Kentucky Center where they had transformed the space into a delight for all in attendance.  There was a huge spread of food, bot appealing to adult and little kids.  Ham and Turkey sandwiches, as well as PB&J!   Chips, cookies of...

What better way to spend the day with your little princess than at the Snow Fairy Princess Tea at the Galt House. I was fortunate enough to take my daughter to this wonderful event today and the Galt House really knows how to make a little girl feel like a princess. When we first arrived, my daughter was taken aback by the room decor, from the china tea sets to the pink satin bows on the chairs, everything screamed "Princess" in the room. We got to stop at a table where The Mommy Nest was greeting visitors and letting the little kids choose a special...
