My daughter and I had the opportunity to attend Nutcracker in a Nutshell and we both thoroughly enjoyed it! The performances take place at the Louisville Palace, which is a beautiful venue. My daughter loved looking at the statues and and decor as we waited for the show to begin. Presented by MAGIC (Making Art Grow In Children) the Nutcracker in a Nutshell is a shorter, family and child friendly version of the classic holiday tradition, the Nutcracker.   On the night before Christmas, the mysterious Herr Drosselmeyer presents a magical Nutcracker to Clara. I was thrilled to take my girls to experience The Nutcracker, sponsored by Brown-Forum, at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in downtown Louisville this past  weekend.  The day started with the Sugar Plum Party before the show (11:30-1) where there were a number of tables hosted by several businesses, including The Mommy Nest! I had both of my daughters attend the Sugar Plum Party and the Nutcracker with me!  They both had a blast as they made Holiday frames and ornaments at the tables.   Several characters from the Nutcracker show joined the Sugar Plum Party to take pictures and network with the crowd. ...

My recently turned 5 year old daughter, Susie, loves all things dance especially ballet, and has since she was 2. Playing and watching Angelina Ballerina is a daily occurrence in our house, so I knew that she would love the story of The Nutcracker. I was however concerned about her ability to sit through a several hour production. I mean she is in fact only 5.
