Review

Derby Dinner Playhouse opened STINKY KIDS THE MUSICAL this past weekend and we were there for all the fun!  My boys had a blast giggling along as they watched 6 super fun “kids” relive everyday occurrences out on stage in song and dance!

Stinky Kid Britt loves making everyone happy. But this girl, who never gets in trouble, is in a sticky situation – literally.  Sheb2ap3_thumbnail_Stinky-Kids-Photo.jpg has an impossibly epic wad of gum stuck in her hair.  All of Britt’s friends are depending on her parents to take them to the new MegaJumper 3000 at Captain Happy’s Jumpy-Fun-Super-Bouncy Indoor Place, so she definitely doesn’t want to disappoint anyone. Britt must rely on her mischievous friends to help her before her parents find out, as they embark on an unexpected adventure across their neighborhood.  Lessons in this musical include learning about being a good leader, going to your parents when you have a problem, and how to handle having more than one best friend.

The entire show is so refreshingly honest and gives a great look into how kids view troubles in their world as well as teaches them great lessons about how to handle certain situations.  Parents will find the show incredibly entertaining too!  The entire cast of adults portraying 6 year olds is spot on!  They all knew how to adopt those fun and quirky features our kids possess to make us laugh and the kids thought they were awesome!

All public performances of STINKY KIDS THE MUSICAL are on Saturdays with Breakfast at 9:00 a.m. and Lunch at 12:00 p.m.  An evening performance has been added on Monday - March 20 at 5:45 p.m.  All performances feature a kid-b2ap3_thumbnail_17022005_10154131766116784_7060282124460833291_n.jpgfriendly menu.  This production is most suitable for ages 3 to 12.

STINKY KIDS THE MUSICAL is based on the successful book series by Britt Menzies with music by Daniel S. Acquisto and book and lyrics by Sammy Buck.  Derby Dinner’s production is under the direction of Tina Jo Wallace and the cast includes Katelyn Webb, Marina Hart, Alfie Jones, Mitch Donahue, Charity Means, and Zachary Burrell.  Songs featured in STINKY KIDS THE MUSICAL are “”Stuck Together”, “Open Up”, “Maybe This Is a Mistake”, “I Promise”, and more!
