Marvel’s CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER Review
I had the opportunity to see a screening of Captain American this week with my husband and I don't know which one of us was more excited! I love all of the Marvel hero movies, and find Captain American (Chris Evans) particularly pleasing to the eye! LOL
I think what I like the most about the Captain America character is that he is so personable and caring! He seems genuine and not too pver-the-top! While the original Captain American film was good, this sequel was great! The Winter Soldier (a series of Captain America comics written by Ed Brubaker and illustrated by Steve Epting) is darker and edgier than its predecessor but it also has a deepness to its story-line and characters that will sit well with adults, rather than just being a campy comic film.
After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s “Captain America: The Winter Soldier” finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with Natasha Romanoff aka Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off assailants sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
The movie introduces interesting relationships and new partnerships which are wonderful. Sam Wilson, a.k.a. the Falcon (Anthony Mackie) soars around the screen as a normal, human being who can do great things with his winged device! The Winter Solider (Sebastian Stan) is also introduced as a villian who can match Captain America's powers, but the twist is interesting. I recommend you see the first Captain America film if you have not, before you see this one, so the twist will make more sense to you! As always, it is nice to see Nick Fury (Samueal L. Jackson), sort of like an age-old friend, in the film.
