Last night I had the pleasure of attending the opening night performance of PNC Broadway in Louisville's The 5th Avenue Theatre’s production of Disney’s The Little Mermaid!  It was great to relive one of my childhood favorites!  The costumes and scenery are simply stunning and the cast did an amazing job or portraying the characters from the film we all love.

Diana Huey as Ariel and Matthew Kacergis as Prince Eric did a wonderful job of creating chemistry on stage!  Their voices are stellar too!  But the performances I loved the most were of the more entertaining characters.  Jennifer Allen as Ursulab2ap3_thumbnail_22133647863_492f247ec8_b.jpg is fabulous.  She is not too scary so the little kids will not mind her and her humor is hilarious!  Melvin Abston is loveable as Sebastian and keeps you in stitches! Jamie Torcellini was probably my favorite, as Scuttle.  He tap dances!  Which is amazing!

The show is nearly sold out but is playing The Kentucky Center February 14-19, 2017. This fun-filled, timeless tale is part of the 2016/2017 PNC Broadway in Louisville season. Tickets start at $32.50* and are available in-person at The Kentucky Center box office, by phone at 502-584-7777, or online at KentuckyCenter.org. Groups of 10 or more can be arranged by calling 502-569-3060.

Proclaimed by the Houston Chronicle as “colorful entertainment, wrapped up in an attractive production,” Disney’s The Little Mermaid is sure to charm audiences of all ages!

In a magical kingdom fathoms below, we meet Ariel, the little mermaid who is tired of flipping her fins and longs to be part of the fascinating world on dry land. Joining her are Sebastian, Ariel’s crabby sidekick; Ursula, the evil sea witch; Triton, King of the Sea and the handsome and human Prince Eric. Based on the Disney animated film and hit Broadway musical, Disney’s The Little Mermaid is making its Louisville debut. The show features all of the favorite songs like “Under The Sea” and “Part of Your World” as well as new songs written by Oscar-winning Disney composer Alan Menken, the mastermind b2ap3_thumbnail_ariel-gets-legs-5th-ave-fb.jpgbehind productions such as Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and Pocahontas. Lyrics are by Howard Ashman and Glen Staler and book by Doug Wright.
