I was thrilled to take my girls to experience The Nutcracker, sponsored by Brown-Forum, at the Kentucky Center for the Arts in downtown Louisville this past  weekend.  The day started with the Sugar Plum Party before the show (11:30-1) where there were a number of tables hosted by several businesses, including The Mommy Nest! This past weekend, I had the pleasure of taking my nine year old daughter to the Sugar Plum Party held at the Kentucky Center for the Arts prior to the performance of the Brown Forman Nutcracker. My daughter had never been to a performance of The Nutcracker, and The Sugar Plum party proved to be a great introduction to The Nutcracker.    The Sugar Plum Party was festively decorated with Nutcracker decorations throughout including an area to have your picture taken with some of the characters. My recently turned 5 year old daughter, Susie, loves all things dance especially ballet, and has since she was 2. Playing and watching Angelina Ballerina is a daily occurrence in our house, so I knew that she would love the story of The Nutcracker. Tip: a great way to pass the time...

However, my elder son is a busy child who has to move constantly. He has to process things by blurting out what he’s thinking about what he sees and hears, and not often quietly. He also interacts with what he watches. Our younger son is a typical toddler, who is prone to sudden bursts of noise and movement at random. These are some reasons why we haven’t...
